Photo by Felicia Borges of the artist Jesse Baggs, a middle-aged white man with short, graying black hair, glasses, and a blue-and-white aloha shirt. Baggs stands in front of two of his art pieces: “Luminescence,” which depicts a young blonde woman sitting in front of a lake and hugging a large, blue-eyed husky; and “I Am the Night-Night,” which depicts a silly looking Batman grinning at the viewer.

Second Saturday in Natomas was a lot of fun–thanks to everyone who came out and said hello or checked out our work! This was my first time at the new location, Gold Bay Mortgage, where the owners Joseph and Cam were very generous with the space. Local art covered the walls!

I got to see pieces by old friends like Carmen Gonzalez and Felicia Borges, plus beautiful work by new friends Rick Stassi, Suzy Goodwin, and Aaron Anderson! I have to shout out three artists in particular. First, Anna Gorda’s pieces showed an amazing level of technical skill.

Second, Eyob Weldamariam had these amazing animal sculptures made of chicken wire that you have to see to believe.

Third, I was excited to meet Raul Lacanilao, who was just as fun to meet in person as he is online, and whose quick draw portraits more than lived up to the hype!

Special thanks to Felicia for always putting on such a great, welcoming show–I can’t wait to do it again!
