Photo of a ceramic bowl from four different angles: the side; above at a slight angle; above straight down; and the foot. The bowl is widest in the middle and features a glossy green glaze dripped over a glossy light-gray. The interior green of the bowl is so dark as to be black. The bowl’s foot is slightly asymmetrical and unglazed, displaying the original white of the clay. The artist attempted to carve his last name into the foot but was unsuccessful, writing instead what appears to read “BAS” instead of “Baggs.” The artist did manage to clumsily carve his initials, “JB,” along with an eye, a star, and the year, “‘25.”

“Muñequita.” Ceramic, 2.25” x 4.25”. Since creating my Lumpy Clay Pieces, I’ve gotten better at wheel throwing. I can only work at small sizes and still struggle with trimming (which is an aspect of ceramics I wasn’t even aware of!), but I can now make smooth clay vessels, like this baby doll.
