I’ve been remiss in posting about CrockerCon 2024 but, as always, it was a blast! I was lucky to get a booth right up front next to CrockerTron poster designer Justin Greenwood, who was super-nice; I also bought a copy of his book Torrent, which looks great! My booth was across from The Humor Times, of which I am a long-time fan, but only got my first subscription to it at CrockerCon! The other table next to mine was the crew from Afro Stache, and I got a couple of their titles, which are a mix of superheroes and social commentary! The talented Kristin Silva was across from them; I met her last year and have been impressed with her art ever since. I bought one of her metal Pac-Man pieces and met her cool family! The only other purchase I made was Deadblood #1 by Christopher Alvarez and David Andry, a parody–or is it an homage?–to over-the-top 90s comics! Promises made and promises delivered.

I got to see old friends like Jared Konopitski and lots of coworkers, which was a pleasant surprise, including the owners of Elk Grove’s only bookstore, A Seat at the Table Books! Thanks so much to the amazing staff of the Crocker Art Museum and the volunteers who made sure everyone had such a wonderful night, and thanks to Kyrun Silva (no relation to Kristin) for taking over the organizer role previously held by originator and organizer Eben Burgoon. But most of all thanks to Eben himself for ten years of an amazing show–none of us would’ve been there if not for you; thanks for including me.
