A trio of patrons inside an art museum compare ugly holiday sweaters. The middle patron is dressed as a Christmas tree, holding a star, lights wrapped around her arms and torso, and wearing gift boxes as shoes. In the background a docent in a Santa hat looks on approvingly; behind him can be seen the 1872 painting “Sunday Morning in the Mines” by Charles Christian Nahl. Text over the legs of the patrons reads, “Sweater Weather.” Further text at the bottom states, “Art Mix; Crocker Art Museum. December 14, 2023 • 6 - 9 PM • For Ages 18+ • Free for Members • $25 for Nonmembers.”

I got to draw the poster for this month’s ArtMix event at the Crocker Art Museum: Sweater Weather! On Thursday, December 14th from 6-9pm, head to the Crocker in your best ugly Christmas sweater for drinks and good cheer! I’ll be there signing posters and selling art. The poster is based on the Crocker piece, “Sunday Morning in the Mines” from 1872 by Charles Christian Nahl. Thanks to Tyler Turner for the holly jolly design and extra special thanks to Eben Burgoon for giving me the job and helping come up with the idea!
